April 21, 2015 - Stern Pinball has announced its plans to team up with Project Pinball Charity Group to dedicate a brand new Stern Iron Man pinball machine at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. The dedication will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in honor of Zach Dacy, a Chicagoan youth who beat cancer after a long battle. "There are thousands of children undergoing intensive medical treatment in children's hospitals across the country," said Daniel Spolar, founder and Senior Director of Project Pinball. "We want to help ease their pain and speed their recovery by giving them a reason to get out of bed, to socialize, and to have to fun by playing an iconic American pastime… pinball!" FROM STEVE--First, I am glad to hear that our friend Jim Schelberg is recovering from his recent surgery, and we here at Stern want to scream a resounding "Live Long and Prosper!!!" We want you and PGJ to keep on keeping on. Jim asked me for comments on the new version of AC/DC Pro LED game, and here they are: Our new model AC/DC Pro LED is more fun to play and experience with a full complement of LED's on the playfield. It is much brighter than the standard Pro, and the excitement of the lighting effects is definitely fired up! I had to replace a few white LED's with red ones because they were just too bright and exposed (big difference over incandescent bulbs) to enjoy the game. Now it looks right and bright.

I designed a new Swinging Bell that strikes the Bell Target with a 6 inch long Pendulum and Ball assembly. The entire Bell swings with the pendulum and ball. The frame and pendulum bracket are made of brushed stainless, and the entire assembly looks great on the game. The Pendulum Ball gives a sweet push-back to the ball in play when struck by it, similar to the Swinging Bell on the Premium and LE versions, but with a bit less force. Our resident artists Greg Freres and Steven Martin created a new speaker/display panel art decal that pops, with "speaker flames" and bright colors. It is a definite improvement over the plain black panel, and mates with the original cabinet graphics well. I wanted to call this model the "AC/DC Swinger Pro", but some folks here thought that the word "Swinger" might not be interpreted correctly by customers. I don't really care how people interpret "Swinger", so I still call it the AC/DC Swinger Pro model; however, if you order one from a distributor use the name AC/DC LED Pro Our work continues on the ST code. We will be finished soon, real soon. For those who care, we don't give out release dates for code updates. We find that there is always something else to improve with every game at all times, just like you folks ask for, and we try to get to them. Sooner or later, we have to publish the code. No one here wants to read, "Stern is late with the code!" a thousand times online if we don't make the deadline, and I don't want to be misleading and tell lies about delivery. May 14, 2014 - Stern Remaking Medieval Madness! Planetary Pinball Supply ("PPS"), Chicago Gaming Company ("CGC") and Stern Pinball, Inc. ("SPI"), today announced a specialty manufacturing arrangement pursuant to which SPI will make its manufacturing facility available to PPS and CGC to assemble their remake of the Medieval Madness ("MMR") pinball game. The game will be assembled with parts supplied by CGC which consist of original WMS specification parts combined with the new electronics and lighting systems designed by CGC. April 29, 2014 - Ray Tanzer Returns to Stern! Stern Pinball, Inc. announced today that Ray Tanzer has joined its growing Operations team. Ray comes to Stern from Namco where he served as Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing.
